Good Reads

Take a look around at what I've read / am reading and tell me what you think! Have you read any of these too? Be sure to let me know in the comments.

What more needs to be said than OH. MY. GOSH. I love Jodi, I really do but if you've ever read any all of her book (My Sister's Keeper, The Nineteenth Circle, etc) than you know her pattern. There is a huge, life- altering- shocking change that you don't see coming at the end of every book. Knowing this, I geared myself for the suspense as I tried to guess the end. After reading all of her books, I had gotten pretty good at thinking I knew what was coming and then being blindsided so I knew this wouldn't be any different. However, I promise you, you won't know what hit you at the end... you will NOT see this coming. Picoult writes such an endearing tale on life for Elephants and their keepers in Elephant sanctuaries coming from Africa or Asia. To say I have a love for elephants and the amazing animals they are is an understatement. It makes you look at these beautiful animals in a way you never have before while becoming emotionally attached to the elephants and their caretakers in the story. I promise you won't be disappointed and you won't be able to put it down, so clear out your schedule, get some coffee, and get cozy because you'll be enraptured by this book.

Once again, when I find an author I love i quickly read every book they've written. This isn't an exaggeration. It's actually sort of embarrassing. I love my girl Elin and wish I lived on Nantucket where her books are set. At one point, I even look up teaching jobs there in hopes my life would be just like one of the characters in her book (again, slightly embarrassing but try to find someone who doesn't love Nantucket?) I have to be honest though, the end of this book just left me hanging! I have to check on my Nook and make sure I wasn't missing something because it was just over. finished. nothing left. However, there was SO MUCH MORE that needed to happen (in my humble opinion). Overall, really great book about an Inn owner on the Island that chronicles the ups and downs of Kelley Quinns family in a way that is all to identifiable.

Let me start by saying, this is a book where you'll need to get your bearings before really getting into it, and then it will be smooth sailing (pun intended). Lighthouses are something that most admire form afar but never really have close experiences with. In Stedman's tale, we can get a first hand experience of what it is like to run the light houses and be the keeper in the mid 1920's on a remote island in Australia. This is a tricky book to tell you about as I don't want to give away the good stuff but it intertwines the lives of two families who get into a life changing battle that will change the course of their lives forever. Intense, huh? Yet so good! Definitely recommend.

Maybe it's the middle school Reading teacher in me but I. LOVE. ME. SOME. YOUNG. ADULT. BOOKS. I can share them with my students but also would highly recommend them to my friends and have book discussion with everyone! I have to admit though, this book didn't leave me feel bright and happy at the end. Being the ever optimist, I just wanted everything to turn out perfect, of course. Everything has a beginning and in Schneider's book it all begins in high school and it all ends in high school (isn't that the truth). It chronicles the lives of "golden boy" Ezra and new girl Cassidy and their lives intertwine and become to mixed up into one another it's hard to really decide where it all began. That is, until we get to the end of the book... it is at the end reader's finally know where it all began. Anything else about endings and beginnings? But really, it's good.
